This is a simple oil, vinegar, and sugar dressing that is the perfect addition to a crunchy green salad and comes together in just a few minutes. It is so much tastier than store bought dressing and is easy to make with just a few ingredients.

This last year I got serious about growing a garden here on the farm. One thing I made sure to plant was a few different kinds of lettuce. It did great, actually almost too great! I was trying to find people to take some since it was more than we could eat.

This next year I’m going to try to show more restraint when planting those itty bitty seeds. When starting something from seed do you find yourself not having enough faith that that little thing will then produce something much bigger? So, you then plant way more than is recommended on the packaging and end up with way more than you can eat or use. The exception might be flowers!

But lets get back to salad. One thing I love about eating a salad is when I’m done I don’t feel that heavy….. I just got done eating Thanksgiving dinner feeling. Do you know what I mean?

And this is a light, sweet and tangy salad dressing that perfectly compliments the greens.

How to make this simple oil, sugar, and vinaigrette dressing.

Freshly washed lettuce next tored wine vinegar in a jar, sugar, chopped onion, and dry mustard

Begin by adding the salt, dry mustard, sugar, chopped red onion and vinegar to a blender. Blend until the onion is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.

Next, with the blender on high, gradually add the olive oil and blend on high for 2-3 minutes. That’s it! This dressing is ready to be drizzled over your favorite salad combination.

Tips

  • Store this oil, vinegar, and sugar dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  • If the ingredients separate place in a jar with a tight lid and shake for a couple of seconds or place the dressing in small bowl and whisk to combine.
